What is the most effective use of digital compositions in schools.
We need to first move away from the notion that LITERACY IS TEXT ON PAPER for reading,but, is more of a harmonious composition of sensual elements. In otherwords LITERACY is the ability of an individual to analyse, interpret, create and understand the use of video, sound, colour, text graphics etc., to communicate thoughts effectively. we must bear in mind that we live in a digital age and we must be so dynamic that from time to time as knowledge changes we should we must sometimes redefine ourselves - such is the case with LITERACY.

IMPROVE WEAKNESSES IN IT DOCUMENTATION

It is very important that we condition ourselves to immerse in the technology and do documentation. For the need to do this is often imposed on us at critical times.

In addition, proper documentation preserve important information.

If everyone can be effectively sensitized as to the necessity of doing regular documentation, the weakness will diminish.

Proper documentation in IT is extremely important. One has to maintain proper records for accountability.

In our schools, proper record keeping should be maintained to ensure that at all times the equipment can be accounted for. The Information Technology teacher or Lab Technician should also keep a record of the total number of computers and how well they are working.

If proper documentation is done, then the school will be well on its way in executing the technology program.

Documentation and IT

Documentation is a major weakness in I.T. programme implementation. How could you improve on this weakness?

Documentation is a weakness with Jamaicans. We like to talk but we do not like to write. As it relates to instructional technology, documentation is important so that information now can be preserved for the future generation or for follow-up classes or sessions.

1.There is the need for the following tools to be implemented in our schools: WIKI, photosharing, RSS, Social Networking, podcast,twitter, blog, Social Bookmarking

2.Parents need to be sensitized so that they will see the need to purchase laptop/ computer for their children.

3. Principal must ensure that these tools are introduced and implemented by staff.

If all three strategies are implemented then it is possible that information documented will see significant improvement in the learning process and programme evaluation.

Create blogs so that information is easily available and persons can post questions to alleviate misunderstandings.

Create tutorials using web quest so that persons can view at their convenience

Paper documentation is a hard to manage system, The electronic mode makes for infinite storage capacity and easy retrieval, It is prime time for going electronic. Delay is danger.
